If you were a Who fan in the mid 60s and were into buying British import records, then you likely knew about the early Small Faces. These guys were leaders in the British "Mod" revolution. That movement never took hold in the States. By the late 60s The Small Faces found relative success in the psychedelic genre, but it's the early Faces, led by Stevie Marriot, who held a lasting influence upon the "heavy metal" bands which followed.
